We've Done It Again...

Of only 6 organisations out of more than 300 across the UK to receive a commendation, East Park underwent a rigorous assessment by the National Autistic Society in order to retain Autism Accreditation.  This programme provides a unified standard of excellence with an aim to continuously improve the quality of service for people with autism.

The National Autistic Society's team of reviewers engaged with the young people, staff, parents and carers to gain an understanding of the quality of educational experience at East Park. The team observed lessons in school, joined pupils in their outings and activities and visited our residential houses to observe the effectiveness of cross-organisational support for resident pupils in meeting objectives of the 24 hour curriculum.

The commendation awarded to East Park includes particularly, the quality of training, the mechanisms for reflection on practice, and the development of an appropriate 'curriculum for excellence'.

East Park's Head of Education, Helen Dunlop, said, "I am heartened by our retention of the accreditation, and subsequent commendation, which confirms to all the effort and dedication of the staff within East Park to supporting the children and young people".

East Park's commendation is being considered as part of the National Autistic Society's 2016 Professionals Awards, recognising and rewarding services and professionals who are leading the way in innovative autism practice and making a real difference to the lives of autistic people in the UK
